She was born in Litchville, N.D., Dec. 5, 1917, to Enus and Emma Severson. Harriet was married to Norman P. Bakken on June 16, 1942, in the Dovre Lutheran Church, Barron County, Wis. Harriet and Norman farmed in the Chetek area for many years. Harriet's life was devoted to her family. She was a member of New Hope Lutheran Church.
Survivors include a son, Galen Bakken of North Miami Beach, Fla.; two daughters, Jeanean Haugestuen of Shelby, Mont., and Karen Gillett of Chaska, Minn.; a brother, Milo Severson of Chetek; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 6, at New Hope Lutheran Church in Sand Creek with Rev. Barbara Koch officiating. Visitation will be at the church for one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Our Savior's Cemetery, Sand Creek, Wisconsin.
