Mrs. Rachel Carrie Eichelberger, 86, of Rocky Ridge, died Friday, December 6, 2013 at her home. Born February 15, 1927 in Buckeystown, she was the daughter of the late Orville and Annabelle Shriner Baker. She was the wife of John E. Eichelberger Sr., her husband of 70 years. Mrs. Eichelberger lived most of her life in Rocky Ridge and was a devoted wife, mother and friend. She enjoyed having company at her home, cooking, collecting clocks and in earlier years, raising chickens. In addition to her husband she is survived by 2 sons, David E. Eichelberger and wife Shirley of Rocky Ridge; John E. Eichelberger Jr and wife Patricia of Graceham; 4 grandchildren, David Eichelberger and wife Tammy, Richard Eichelberger and wife Sherri, Lori Eichelberger and fiancé Robert Arnold and Steven Eichelberger; 3 great granddaughters, Amber, Kristen and Amy Eichelberger; a brother, Orville Baker Jr. and wife Dorothy of Rocky Ridge and a sister, Mary Harmon of Rocky Ridge. She will be missed by her numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by six sisters and brothers. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 10 at Hartzler Funeral Home, 404 S. Main St., Woodsboro, with Revs. Garnet Myers and James Coblentz, officiating. Interment will be in Rocky Ridge Brethren Cemetery.
