Doris Blondell Boykin Rogers Whiten, 85, wife of John L. "Johnny" Whiten, died Saturday, March 1, 2014, at her home following an extended illness.
Mrs. Whiten was born November 23, 1928, in the New Hope Community of Berkley County, a daughter of the late Trenholm Boykin and Minnie Lee Way Boykin.
She was predeceased by a son Edwin Merle Rogers, six brothers and a sister.
In addition to her husband Johnny of 33 years she is survived by a daughter Judy (Larry) Griffith and a son Barry (Linda) Rogers both of Holly Hill; a granddaughter Sarah (Kaleb) Steffenhagen of Clarksville, TN, and a grandson Justin Rogers of Holly Hill.
A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bethany-Breland Cemetery. The Rev. Dr. David Brien will officiate. Avinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
