Mr. Boykin was born June 1, 1915, in Ridgeville, son of the late Trenholm and Minnie Lee Way Boykin.
He attended Cross High School and was a veteran of the United States Navy serving in World War II.
Mr. Boykin was an honorary member of the South Carolina Sheriff's Department. He retired from Sears as a furniture repairman and was a member of Stallsville United Methodist Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife are: two sons: Michael L. Boykin (Donna) and Roger Bruce Boykin both of Summerville, two granddaughters: Relea Boykin Meyer (Shepard) of Cottageville and Cathi Sacks of Goose Creek, one great-granddaughter: Arden Boykin of Cottageville, one sister: Blondel Whiten (Johnny) of Holly Hill and his dachshund: Ginger.
He was predeceased by his great-grandson: Jacob Palmer Boykin and five brothers and one sister.
Funeral service will be held April 20, 2011, at 3 o'clock at James A. Dyal Funeral Home Chapel, Summerville. Burial will follow at Dorchester Memory Gardens, Summerville.
