Rev. Francis A. Wharton, retired M.E. pastor well known in this section of Ohio, died at 3 o'clock Thursday morning at the home of his son, W.S. Wharton, north of New Concord, at the age of 73. He had been suffering for seven months from a stroke of paralysis. He had been active in the ministry until his recent illness. Funeral services will be conducted at the home at 10 o'clock Saturday morning, Rev. Paul Carter, New Concord M.E. church officiating. The body will be removed to Summerfield his boyhood home, where brief services will be held at 1 o'clock in the afternoon. Burial will be made at the cemetery there. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Lucinda Wharton; a sister, Mrs. John Mercer, Sarahsville; three daughters, Mrs. J. H. Smith, Zanesville; Mrs. J.S. Downerd. Cambridge; Mrs. D.J. Campbell, Broadacre, O.; two sons, Lewis, Canton, and W. S. Wharton, at whose home he died. Ten grandchildren also are living.
