BATESBURG - Felder Dutton Boozer died April 1, 2014. Visitation will be at Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Historic B-L Chapel, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 4th. The funeral will be held Saturday, April 5th at 11:00 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, Batesburg. Burial will follow in Ridge Crest Memorial Park. Felder "Duck" Boozer was born October 22, 1915, on the family farm on Clouds Creek in Saluda County. He was the son of Maxwell and Leila Smith Boozer. In the late 1920s his family was displaced by the building of Lake Murray and moved to the Holston Crossroads area where he spent the remainder of his life. He was married to the late Emmie Lake Boozer. He is survived by two children, Michael F. "Mickey" Boozer and Joyce Boozer Temple; three grandchildren, Michael S. Boozer, Jennie Temple and Jason Temple; two great-grandchildren, Zaiden and Dawsyn Boozer; one sister, Sarah Esther B. Hall; and, three sisters-in-law, Marjorie Boozer, Mattie Myers and Ruth Lake.
He worked for many years in the textile industry in Batesburg – Martel, Catlin Farish, and Burlington from which he retired. He was a lifelong row crop and cattle farmer. He enjoyed watching his cows eat and would often feed them daily.
In his younger years baseball was a great passion for him and his brothers – known as the "Boozer Boys" ball team. He was the catcher on this team as well as other area teams. He was predeceased by his brothers, Henry, Pitts, Bill, JC "Fox", Mendel, Woodrow, Leland "Dank," and James. He was also predeceased by two sisters, Elberta B. Hartley and Annetta B. Addy, and a baby daughter.
He was a faithful member of Faith Lutheran Church.
