During the church services, Ann Hileman and Eunice Allen, both of McCook sang "In the Garden" and "Near to the Heart of God." The pallbearers were Fred Martin, Milton Cottingham, Carl Miller, Leroy Wilkinson, Floyd Hall, and Fred Leiss. The Herrmann funeral home of McCook was in charge of arrangements, and burial was made in the Culbertson cemetery.
Ray Martin Stewart was born at Culbertson on June 1, 1904. His marriage to Emma Miller took place on April 25, 1930. He had been employed recently at the McCook municipal airport.
Survivors include his wife, Emma; one daughter, Jacqueline of Santa Monica, California; two sons, Gene, also of Santa Monica, and Keith, who are at home; his mother, Mrs. Charles Stewart of Culbertson; four brothers, Arthur of Palisade; Ralph of Orleans; Hank of McCook; and Merle of Culbertson; and five sisters, Mrs. Edith Guyon of Los Angeles, California; Mrs. Ethel Beebe of Culbertson; Mrs. Elsie Kess of Lincoln; Mrs. Esther Garrett of Hayes Center; and Mrs. Bessie Williams of Trenton.
