She was also known as Sister Rose Madeleine.

She entered the Order of St. Francis, Philadelphia Foundation, 14 Feb. 1934. Received the Holy Habit 12 Aug 1934 and the name of Sister Rose Madeleine. Made first vows 12 Aug 1936 and final vows 12 Aug 1942. She spent most of her life as an elementary teacher in Oregon and Washingon. She was also a successful artist, specializing in water colors and oil.

Sister Rose Madeleine Walter, 65 of St. Ann's Home, died Monday.
Sister Walter was born in Pendleton, Ore., and moved to Tacoma four years ago from Spokane.
A retired teacher, artist and musician, she was a member of the Order of St. Francis.
Survivors include her mother, Mrs. Lillian R. Walter of Sacramento, Calif.; four brothers, Clark J. Walter, Norbert A. Walter, Frank A. Walter, and Robert G. Walter, Joseph J Walter all in California; and three sisters, Maribel MacLennan in California and Kathleen Zerbetz and Elizabeth Vannet, both of Seattle.
Cassedy & Allen Mortuary is in charge.

Mass of Christian Burial for Sister Rose M. Walter OSF will be celebrated Thursday at 4:00 at St. Ann's Home 6602 So. Alaska St. Burial in Calvary Cemetery under the direction of Cassidy & Allen Funeral Home. Rosary will be recited this evening at 7:30 p.m. at St. Ann's Home.
