One of our oldest and most respected ladies, Mrs. Elizabeth Ellen Clingman died at her home in Pleasant Hope. Tuesday morning, Feb. 14th, 1899, of the grippe, after an illness of about five days. Grandma Clingman, as she was familiarly known, was born Oct 24, 1826 in Prince George's county, Md. and was married to Henry Klingman who still survives her, Sept 9, 1851, at Cambridge, Ohio. To this union seven children were born, five of whom are still living.

Charles Albright CLINGMAN was born 29 OCT 1857 in Cambridge, Guernsey, OH, and died 14 JAN 1943 in Alhambra, Los Angeles, CA. He married Rhoda Elizabeth JOHN 6 AUG 1895 in Pleasant Hope, Polk, MO;

Samuel S. KLINGMAN was born 1 NOV 1860 in Cambridge, Guernsey, OH, and died 26 JUN 1861 in Cambridge, Guernsey, OH;

Edward J. KLINGMAN was born 30 MAY 1862 in Madison, Madison, IA, and died Aft 30 MAY 1952. He married Jennie KLINGMAN 1888;

Jesse John CLINGMAN was born 20 OCT 1866 in Cambridge, Guernsey, OH, and died 11 APR 1938 in Pleasant Hope, Polk, MO. He married Rowena M. MAHAN 13 APR 1898 in Bolivar, Polk, MO;

Emma Eva CLINGMAN was born 18 SEP 1868 in Winterset, Madison County, Iowa, and died 9 JUL 1905 in Crawford County, Indiana. She married David Sherman LASWELL 29 APR 1889 in Galesburg, Knox County, Illinois, son of David Morton (Dana) LASWELL and Mariah Catherine CURL. He was born 26 OCT 1869 in Crawford County, Indiana, and died 10 AUG 1940 in Terre Haute, Vigo, Indiana.
