James H. Morrison aged 73 years two months and 14 days, passed away suddenly at his home in Nasonville Saturday evening, death resulting from apoplexy. He was one of the first pioneers of this county and a man loved and respected by all who knew him. Deceased was born in Uniontown, Fayette county, Pa., May 7th, 1836 and was married to Miss Margaret Ellen Hart July 1st, 1856, who together with nine children still survive him. At the breaking out of the rebellion Mr. Morrison was among the first to enlist in the cause, faithfully serving his country three years. In the year 1865 he moved to Wisconsin settling on his present farm in Nasonville where he has since lived an upright honest life and a public benefactor in the community. Throughout his long life of usefulness he has enjoyed good health and only up to within a few hours of his death has he been a sufferer. Mr. Morrison was the father of 11 children, 25 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Of the living issues of his own family nine survive him as follows: Joseph Morrison, Green Lake, Mrs. Geo. Compeau, Medford, Mrs. John Theisen of Iona Lake, Minn., Casper Morrison, this city, Ross, Leander, Vernon, Orlando and Isaac Morrison of Nasonville, all of whom were present at the funeral which took place at the Nasonville Presbyterian church Tuesday, Rev. Martin preaching a powerful sermon in memory of the deceased. It was one of the largest burials ever held at that place, neighbors from far and near turning out to pay their last respects to an honored pioneer. Relatives from a distance attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Peter Beauchine, Park Falls, Mrs. Geo. Compeau and daughter Elsie of Medford, Mrs. John Thiesen, son and daughter, Iona Lake, Minnesota, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Morrison of Corliss. Indiana, Mr. and Mrs. Burt Mercer of Minocqua, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Morrison and Mrs. Fred Parmley of Green Lake, A. F. Mercer, Mr. and Mrs. Aug. Treierweiler, Mr. and Mrs. Oral Mercer and Mr. and Mrs. Casper Morrison of this city.
