Porter, as he as called, was the son of John Wallace & Mary Jane Sprenkle.

He married:
(1) Susan Graham
(2) Annie Frey on 23 Dec 1892 in York Co., PA

Porter & Susan had five children: Estella Pearl (Dosch); Iva E. (Bailey); Eva May; James Stanley; and Susan.

Porter & Annie had seven children: Grant M.; Ethel Kate (Snyder); Saint Clair McCall "Clair"; Karl McKenna; Mark Hanna; Flora M. (Strickler); and Mary Magdalena (Shultz).

Porter's obituary in the York Dispatch begins with: "J. Porter Wallace, school teacher, surveyor, justice of the peace, lodgeman, politician and painter, well known in a large section of York county. . ."

His obituary also includes: "Besides his wife Anna Mr. Wallace leaves his mother, Mrs. Mary Jane Wallace, Long Level, and the following children: Mrs. Harry Dosch, East Prospect; Mrs. Harry E. Bailey, Wrightsville; J. Stanley Wallace, York; Mrs. Franklin Snyder, Windsor, and Grant M., St. Clair, Karl M., Markhanna, Flora and Mary, all at home. The following brothers and sisters also survive: W. W. Wallace and H.M. Wallace, both of Windsor; John C. Wallace, Long Level; Mrs. Rebecca Reisinger, near Wrightsville; Mrs. Charles Gable, Windsor; Mrs. Solomon Newcomer, near Wrightsville, and Mrs. William Holtzapple, Yoe. Twenty-three grandchildren also survive him."
