Mr. Roger Eugene Badger, 80, of Union City went home to be with the Lord at 11:00 a.m. Thursday May 8, 2014. at his home within two short weeks of being diagnosed with Advanced Aggressive Lymphoma.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Sunday at First Church of God in Union City. Pastor Ron Gray will officiate with Rev. Bill Glidewell assisting. Burial will follow in East View Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Chief Petty Officer Navy Diver Michael C. Badger, David Collins , Noah Dillard , Christopher Diemert , Aaron Badger, and Cody Stokes.

The family will receive friends at First Church of God from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Saturday.

Mr. Badger was born April 26, 1934 in Philippi, Tennessee. Roger spent the better part of his life in Valmeyer, Illinois where he was the owner and operator of Foster Pond Industries for many years and was a machinist at Monsanto, Inc. After Retirement he returned to Reelfoot Lake for 18 years where many dinners and events were hosted. He has since resided in Union City for the past 6 years where his passion for people and giving flowed over into the new chapter of his life. You could find him at The Davey Crockett Hotel every Monday where they ministered and served food for the needy. He was a quiet, but strong presence and will always be remembered for his giving and loving spirit.

He was a member of First Church of God in Union City where he served as a Deacon of the church. He was also a commissioned Kentucky Colonial.

Mr. Badger is survived by his two daughters and sons-in-law, Sandy and Charlie Collins of Cahokia, IL and Dena and Ronnie Diemert of Fults, IL; three sons, Randy and Dianne Badger of Desoto, MO, Andrew Badger of Valmeyer, IL, and Chris and April Badger of Newbern, TN. There are 16 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. Best friend of the past 3 years Ms. Bobbye Presson.

In addition to his children Mr. Badger is also survived by siblings: Charles Noel of Lake County, TN., Myrvin Curtis of Sevierville, TN., and Mary Helen Plappert of Pana, IL.

He is preceded in death by his late wife of 56 years whom he married April, 10, 1954, Alma Lou (Royer). She died May 29, 2010 and daughter, Regina Ann (Dillard). Parents, Oliver B. Badger and Dora L. (Wilson). Sister- Martha Craddock and brothers- James, Oliver, Wayne, Jackie, and Jerry.

Memorial contributions may be made in the form of donations to First Church of God, 415 South Miles Avenue, Union City, TN 38261, for the steeple fund, as this was something Roger had been an advocate of.
