Wayne Donald Badger, 71, of Tiptonville, died July 15, 2010, at his home.

Graveside services were 1 p.m. Saturday at Rose Hill Cemetery in Obion, with Johnson-Williams Funeral Home in Newbern in charge of arrangements.

The Rev. Marita Burkeen officiated and pallbearers were J.D. Downing, Mike Fraley, Terry Jamison, Jimmy King, Jimmy Leake and David Nance.

Honorary pallbearers were Robert Ashbaugh and Keith Badger.

The family requests that memorials be made to Rosehill Cemetery Fund, in care of Chip Cutler, 209 South 15th St., Obion, TN 38240.

He was born Aug. 11, 1938, in the Philippy community, son of the late Oliver B. and Dora LaVerne (Wilson) Badger. He attended elementary school and high school in Lake County, graduating in 1955. He then entered the U.S. Navy for nine years.

He was employed by the Corvette division of the autoworkers for Chevrolet in the St. Louis area for several years and later worked at Toro Lawn Mower of St. Louis and Stag Brewing Co. in Belleville, Ill.

He returned to his childhood home and purchased Sportsman's Resort in Lake County and, after selling it, went to work for Foster Pond Industries and then traveled as a press repairman across the country.

He retired to Reelfoot Lake where he enjoyed fished and re-acquainting with old friends and schoolmates.

Survivors also include best friend & companion, Anita Morris of Tiptonville, TN: two daughters, Cathy Jo Ashbaugh of Marysville, Calif., and Martha Ann Cooper of Eagle River, Ark.; his son, Robert Wayne Badger of Yuba City, Calif.; his sister, Mary Helen Plappert of Plano, Ill.; three brothers, Charles Badger of Tiptonville and Mervyn Badger of Pigeon Forge and Robert Badger of Union City, TN; and three grandchildren, Robert Ashbaugh of Marysville, Kateline Cooper of Eagle River, Alaska, and Keith Badger of Waterloo, Ill.

He was also preceded in death by his son, William Charles Badger; his sister, Martha Craddock; and four brothers, Jackie Badger, James Badger, Oliver Badger and Jerry Badger.
