Mary Helen Plappert, 78, of Pana passed away Thursday, October 27, 2022 in Pana Community Hospital. She was born December 2, 1943 in Phillippy, TN to the late Oliver Bee & Dora (Wilson) Badger. Mary married Steve Plappert on September 30, 1961 in Tiptonville, TN and he preceded her in death on June 20, 2004.

Mary was a homemaker and sat with the elderly. She was a history buff and knew all of the presidents. Mary was a member of the First United Pentecostal Church, Pana, where she always worked with the youth at church and camp. She also volunteered at the Pana Christian Academy.

Mary is survived by her children: Stanley (Lisa) Plappert, Ocala, FL; Hugh (Denise) Plappert, Woodbury, MN; Tim Plappert (fiancée, Vicki Chasteen), Pana, IL; Michael (Regina) Plappert, Neosho, MO; grandchildren: Courtney Plappert, Durrell Sims, David Plappert, Cassi Plappert, Daniel Plappert, Deion Sims, Austin Plappert, Matthew Plappert, Mark Plappert, Mariah Sims, Deanna Plappert, Lanaea Plappert, Lavena Plappert; great grandchildren: Conner Plappert, Shayne Sims, Lakelyn Plappert & Stevie Sims and siblings: Charles Noel (Dora) Badger, Tiptonville, TN & Myrvin (Betty) Badger, Wears Valley, TN. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Janice Sims on August 3, 2015 and siblings: James Badger, Martha Craddock, Roger Badger, Oliver Badger, Wayne Badger, Jerry Badger & Jackie Badger.

Funeral services for Mary will be held on Sunday, October 30, 2022 in First United Pentecostal Church, Pana at 6:00 p.m. with Pastor Jonathan Blake officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 5 until service time in the church. Burial will be Monday, October 31, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. in Linwood Cemetery, Pana.

Memorials in Mary's honor may be made to the First United Pentecostal Church, Pana and will be accepted by McCracken-Dean Funeral Home who is assisting the family.
