Alexander Hill, 78, died at his home, 403 West Second Street, Wednesday morning. He was born in Ireland.
He came to this are with his parents when a child, locating at Ten Mile Bottom. With the advent of the petroleum industry into that part of Venango County, he engaged in the producing business, and the famous Hill City was located on part of his farm. He disposed of his interests in that are about 15 years ago and moved to Oil City, where he lived since. He was associated with the Second Presbyterian Church.
His wife died last year.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. John C. Kuhns and Miss Jennie Hill of Oil City; and brothers and sisters, George Hill of Hill City, Samuel Hill and John Hill of Ten Mile Bottom, Mrs. Ramsdale of Franklin, and Mrs. C. S. Mark of Polk.
Services will be at 3 pm Friday at his home with Rev. S. A. Cornelius, his pastor, officiating.
