Although earlier censuses (1850 and 1860) show she was born in 1838, later she documentation changed her birth year to 1839, which presents a problem, as her brother, Simon, was born in 1839.

Mrs. Ellen Hill Ramsdale, born February 2, 1839, died about 12 o'clock noon, Friday at her home, 111 West Park street, at the advances aged of 92.
She removed to Franklin at the age of 19 years and was a resident here for 74 years. She was a member of the First Methodist Episcopal church.
Surviving are a half brother, George Hill of Van; children, Mrs. J. H. Gallup of Philadelphia, Mrs. Ida White and Mrs. Flora Hunter of Franklin, Mrs.Elmer Duncan of Oil City, Mrs. E. L. Cummins of Titusville, and George Ramsdale of Franklin.
