Flossie Amanda Chenault passed away on April 1, 2014 in Shreveport, Louisiana at the age of 75. Amanda had lived for the past six years in Shreveport. She was born on November 17, 1938 in Cloutierville, Natchitoches Parish, Louisiana. Amanda Chenault graduated from Boyce High School in Boyce, Rapides, Louisiana. She worked as a lab technican and an x-ray technican. Amanda Chenault was the curator and director of Bayou Folk Museum located in the Kate Chopin House in Cloutierville, Louisiana for over 15 years. She provided tours to visitors to the museum and shared interesting stories about the history of Kate Chopin. While working at Bayou Folk Museum Amanda was a member of the Cane River National Heritage Commission for Natchitoches Parish. She was a lover of animals, always having at least a dog and several cats. She was a member of the Humane Society of Natchitoches Parish. Amanda was preceded in death by her parents: John Franklin Chenault and Louise Blanche Cannon Chenault; brothers, Thomas Franklin Chenault, Sr., John Francis Chenault, Albert Blanchard Chenault, Bobby Ray Chenault and one sister, Iris Elizabeth Chenault Bond. She is survived by one sister, Betty Chenault Garrett and her husband, Harold Garrett of Diamondhead, Mississippi. She is also survived by 14 nieces and 4 nephews; 32 great nieces and nephews; and her loving cat, T'sur, who is not living with a friend. The family is deeply indebted to two nieces, Edna Mae Chenault Dawson and Norma Jane Chenault Byram, for their unconditional love and care for Amanda during the past two years. Memorials may be made to St Andrews Chapel in Shreveport, Louisiana.
