John Franklin Chenault, age 78, died at 4:00 a.m. on Monday, December 19, 1966 in an Alexandria, Louisiana hospital. Native of Poplar Bluff, Missouri and a resident of Boyce, Louisiana; retired town marshall of Boyce. Deputy Sheriff in Rapides Parish from June 1944 to May 1962. Member of Church of God in Sharp, Louisiana, member of IOOF Lodge, Poplar Bluff, Missouri. Member of Louisiana Peace Officers Association, Charter Member of International Association of Auxiliary Police, Louisiana Parish Safety Council, Rapides Parish Civil Defense and Department Fire Marshall of Louisiana.
Mr. Chenault was preceded in death by a son, John Francis Chenault, who died October 27, 1966. Funeral services will be a 3:00 p.m. Wednesday at Hixson Brothers Chapel in Alexandria, with burial in Flatwoods Cemetery. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Louise Cannon Chenault, Boyce; two sons, Thomas Chenault, Abilene, Texas and A. B. Chenault of Boyce; three daughters, Mrs. John Bailey, Jena, Louisiana; Mrs. Harold Garrett of Lafayette, Louisiana and Mrs. William Bond, Boyce; one sister, Mrs. Harold W. Walters, Baldwin Park, California, 16 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
