Born July 18, 1902 in Fullerton, ND, she went to Vandalia in 1923 following graduation from Ellendale State Teacher's College. She taught school in the Glasgow area for 18 years and also gave piano lessons. Her marriage to Harry P. Rohde, who survives, took place in Miles City, MT on November 27, 1924. They made their home in the Glasgow, Vandalia, and Tampico vicinities.
In addition to her husband, Bernice leaves one son, Robert B. Rohde of Hobson, MT; two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Ena Mae) Schwenke of Circle, MT, and Arlene K. Rohde of Glasgow; three sisters, Mrs. Anna Van Middlesworth, Mrs. William (Kate) Newman, and Mrs. Martin (Eva) Almquist; two brothers, Thomas and Albert Barta, all of Fullerton, ND. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Peter and Kathryn (Vanek) Barta; one brother, Joseph Phillip Barta; and one sister, Mrs. Mary Sturma.
