Born June 8, 1928, in Spartanburg County, he was the son of the late William Tipton and Mae (Gosnell) Blanken.
Mr. Blanken retired from Community Cash after 48 years of service and was a member of Westgate Freewill Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Loretta Holt Wells Sexton Shelley Blanken; daughter, Sandra Leake (Gary) of Duncan, SC; stepchildren, Cindy Moore of Spartanburg, SC, William Vance Sexton and Tony Wayne Sexton (Melanie), all of Moore, SC; grandchildren, Jason Crisp, April Perry, Allen Putnam, William Sexton, Carter Sexton, Faith Sexton, Jamison Wayne Blanken, Eric Dean, and Stacy Dean; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Geneva Burke Blanken; a son, Larry Wayne Blanken; three sisters, Lilly Guy, Nellie Adair, and Pauline Blanken; and four brothers, Charles L. Blanken, William "Bill" T. Blanken, Calvin Jake Blanken, and John R. Blanken.
Visitation was 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
Funeral services were conducted at 4:00 PM Thursday, May 29, 2014, at the Chapel, by the Rev. Dr. Tim Williams. Burial was in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307.
Memorials could be made to Interim Home Hospice, 775 Spartan Blvd. Suite 101, Spartanburg, SC 29301.
