Johnnie R. Blanken, 84, of Spartanburg, SC, died Saturday, October 17, 2009 at White Oak Manor.
Born October 16, 1925 in Clifton, he was the son of the late William Tipton and Mae (Gosnell) Blanken and husband of the late Ruby (Henderson) Blanken.
He was retired from Spartanburg School District 2.
Survivors include a brother, J.T. "Bud" Blanken and his wife Loretta (Holt) Blanken of Moore and a good friend, Michael Bridges.
Graveside services were held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at Good Shepherd Memorial Park, conducted by the Rev. David Connor.
Visitation was held after the service at the graveside.
In lieu of flowers, memorials could be made to Westgate Free Will Baptist Church, PO Box 219, Arcadia, SC 29320.
