Charles provided meat for the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War, but the tradition does not tell whether it was as a contractor as as an enlisted man. When the Census of 1790 was taken he was a resident of Wilbraham with a family consisting of one male over 16 years, three under 16 and six females.
