Sarah Stancil married William Cobb in about 1755. they had five children when the Revolutionary War began. William was commissioned a Lieut. and served under Col Caswell. After the war, they migrated to North Carolina where William died in 1788. Sarah was enumerated in the 1790 census as head of her household. Her son, David, and family were next door. Sarah died nine years later in 1799 at about 64 years of age.
