Altoona Mirror, May 7, 1889

Joseph Adams, for sixty years a resident of St. Augustine, Cambria County, died this morning at the residence of his son-in-law, J.A. Dumm, No. 2122 Fourth avenue, at 8:30 o'clock. Had he lived until September 15 next, he would have been 89 years of age.
Deceased was born in the Sinking Valley and had been lately a resident of Baker's Mines. He came to this city about two weeks ago to make an application for a pension and one week of that time he has been suffering from the illness that carried him away. He enlisted in the Silver Grays of the Federal forces, but did not engage in more than a few months of actual service. His wife died 32 years ago.
Four daughters and two sons remain to mourn his loss. They are Mrs. Annie Barnacle, No 1718 Union avenue; Mrs. Stacey Delozier, Mrs. Mary Delozier, both of Baker's Mines and Mrs. Julia Scanlan, of Painesville, Ohio; and Jesse and John Adams, sons. One brother, Henry Adams, has his home somewhere in Canada. In life deceased was a consistent member of the Catholic church at St. Augustine, and the funeral will take place at that place next Thursday morning.
