DOVER Betty J. Harman, 73, entered into rest at 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at her home. She was the loving wife of J. Cecil Harman. The couple celebrated 53 years of marriage on October 15, 2013. Born September 7, 1940, in Washington Twp., Betty was a daughter of the late George W. and Myrna L. (Wagner) Bankert. She was a graduate of East Berlin High School and worked as a packer for Martins Potato Chips for 23 years. Betty was a member of Zwingli United Church of Christ in East Berlin. In addition to her husband, Betty is survived by two daughters, Susan E. Gillespie and husband, Andrew J. Gillespie, Jr., of Thomasville and Donna K. Sipe and husband, Sean of East Berlin; five grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and two sisters, Marie Becker of New Oxford and Phyllis Maggs of Oval. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara J. Weaver; three sisters; and five brothers. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Betty's funeral at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 13, 2014 at Emig Funeral Home, 47 N. Queen St., Dover, with burial to follow in East Berlin Cemetery. The viewing is from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Officiating will be her pastor, the Rev. Dr. Margaret Wise.
