She was the daughter of the late George and Myrna (Wagner) Bankert.
Ruth was a former employee of the Dillsburg and East Berlin Shoe Factories and was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Church of God and the Monaghan Township Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary.
She was the widow of Mervin F. Smith, Sr. and is survived by one son, Mervin F. Smith, Jr. of Dillsburg; one daughter, Sandra L. Mort of York; three sisters, Marie Becker of New Oxford, Betty Harmon of Dover, and Phyllis Ann Maggs of Williamsport; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her son, Robert L. Smith.
