Marlin was born May 19, 1942, in East Berlin, a son of the late George and Myrna (Wagner) Bankert.
Butch was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran serving during the Vietnam Era. He retired in 2003 following 30 years of service for LWB Refractories, York, where he was a grinding plant operator. Butch was a member of the East Berlin VFW; New Oxford Social Club; McSherrystown Home Association; and Shiloh American Legion Post 791. He enjoyed going to the mountains with his friends.
In addition to his wife, Butch is survived by a granddaughter, Kaylynn C. Bankert of East Berlin; a great grandson, Terry Lee Bankert; and four sisters, Ruth Smith, Marie Becker, Betty Harman and Phyllis Maggs. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Kay Bankert.
Burial will follow in Suburban Memorial Gardens.
