Caroline Walter, 92, of Lodi died Jan 28 in a local hospital after a short illness. She was born Caroline Frey on June 14, 1902, in Hebron, N.D.
She moved with her family in 1906 to Harmony Grove, and the family settled six years later in Victor. She attended local schools and in 1918 moved to Lodi.
On Dec 11, 1921 she married Edward D. Walter in his family's home located above the Walter Market in Lodi, at the corner of Lodi and Central avenues.
The couple owned and operated the marked from 1948 to 1963, when they retired.
Mrs. Walter was a charter member of Ebenezer Congregational Church, and she belonged to the church choir and Ladies Circle No.2. She also was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Eagles and the Pocahontas Club.
Her pastimes were gardening, crocheting, sewing, cooking, crafts and singing.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward E. Walter in 1975 and four sisters, Eva Meier, Emma Lachemaier, Katie Henderson and Anna Grant.
Mrs. Walter is survived by a daughter, LaVonne, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
