Miss Nancy "Nannie" Allen was born in April 1810 in Montgomery County, Tennessee, the daughter of George Allen Sr (1774–1847 and Elizabeth (Blackwood) Allen (1776–1838).

Nannie was 70 years old when she passed away on August 10, 1880 in Montgomery County and was buried in Allendale Cemetery, and although her grave is unmarked, her name and dates are included in a long memorial marker that included the names and dates of all seven known burials in this cemetery.
