Abraham "Abram" Allen was born in Orange County, North Carolina, and while an infant traveled with the family to Clarksville, Tennessee, where his father had built a home on land granted from service in the Rev. War. At age 38 he married Sallie Galbreath, daughter of Duncan and Nancy Anne McKinnon Galbreath. He was a farmer and had substantial land holdings. He died in 1885 and is buried in the family cemetery in Kentucky, just north of the Tennessee state line.
