Libbie Cole was the daughter of Archibald Lamont Cole, with his second wife, Mary Ann Townsend. She was orphaned in 1866 and lived first with her grandfather Moses Townsend, and then with her paternal uncle, Justus Hand Cole.

Married first to Theodore "Frank" Snyder, who died before 1905. Married second to Floyd Sawdey.
