The body of Private George Evans, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Evans of Niles, arrived in Niles this morning from Fort Wadsworth, Staten Island, and was taken to Holloway's morgue, where funeral services will be held.
Private Evans enlisted in Headquarters Company, First Brigade, July 16 of this year. A few weeks later he was sticken with tuberculosis, and was taken to the Post hospital for treatment. Here pneumonia developed about ten days ago and his death occurred Friday, October 30. The lad was 18 years of age, born and reared in Niles. His parents and six brothers and sisters survive him. A military escort accompanied the body to Niles.

Body Arrives Here Today, to be Buried Wednesday in Union Cemetery
Funeral arrangements for George Evans, Jr., have been completed, and were announced today The services will be private and will be held in the Holloway & Son's funeral parlors tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock. Burial will be made in the Union Cemetery.
The body arrived in Niles this morning from New York City where the youth died in the Navy hospital late Saturday afternoon after a brief illness of pneumonia. He was born and raised in Niles and attended the public schools. About three months ago he enlisted in the United States Navy.
He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Evans, three brothers, Russell, Wilbert and Harry, and one sister, Mildred. (not mentioned siblings: Margaret, Walter and Jack)
Rev. J.H. Palmer will officiate at the funeral services.
