In the 1920's Ed Devine was working in the coal in or near Terre Haute, Indiana. By the 1940's he had moved to Northwest Indiana to work in the steel mill as an electrician. In 1941 Ed, his sister Nora, and their father, James, moved to Arizona because Nora had severe arthritis. He never married and always took care of his parents and his sister.
