Born in Peabody, son of he late Joseph and Josephine (Thibeault) Barbeau, he was a graduate of Peabody High School, Class of 1928. Received his law degree from Suffolk University with honors in 1938. He was a Lynn resident for the past 36 years.
Retired as President of the R.B. Hall Wholesale Food Corp.of Salem, formerly of Lynn, where he had been employed for over 40 years until his retirement in 1976.
Army Veteran of WWII, having served as a staff sergeant. Active member of St. Vincent de paul Soc. and St. Pius the V Conference in Lynn. In January 1984, he was honored by the Catholic Church for his outstanding work in charitable organizations.
Member of the Mass. Bar Association, the Knights of Columbus Leo Council 508 of Peabody. He was an extraordinary minister at St. Pius V Church and a member of the Holy Name Society.
He leaves one son, Ernest J. Barbeau,Jr. and a daughter, Mrs. Paula B. Stockwell of Lynn; two sisters, Ida and Julia Barbeau; four grandchildren; several nieces & nephews.
Funeral Mass Wed.in St. Pius V Church. Burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Salem.
