Celia Elizabeth Paynter U’Ren was born in Yellowstone, Lafayette county, Wisconsin, Jan 24, 1854, and died Dec. 17, 1942, at the home of her son Warren U’Ren at Elgin, Ill., where she had been visiting for some weeks. She had made her home with her daughters Celia and Kate (Mrs. Ed Beecroft) at Oak Park, Ill., since the death of her husband, Blakely U’Ren of Blanchardville, to whom she was married Jan 26, 1878. He preceded her in death in 1928.
The children surviving are: Mrs. Edward Beecroft of Oak Park, Ill.; Celia U’Ren, Oak Park, Ill; Warren, Elgin, Ill., Lester, River Falls, Wis.; Maurice, Rice Lake, Wis.
She leaves one brother, Charles Paynter of Darlington; and two sisters, Mrs. John Howe of Mineral Point, and Mrs. Chris Vickers of Blanchardville. There are eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Mrs. U’Ren was a very good mother having a remarkable disposition of patience, courage, and faith. Always interested in world affairs and in the activities of her children and her children’s children she was greatly loved by them all and by all who knew her.
The funeral was held at the Saether funeral home Monday afternoon, Dec. 21, and burial was made in Graceland cemetery. Mrs. James Gant and Mrs. Kenneth Lyngaas sang, accompanied by Mrs. Verne Marshall. The Rev. Virgil Brown of the Methodist church officiated.
Pallbearers were Lamont Paulson, Carlton Chandler, Selmer Lien, T.S. Bainbridge, Verne Marshall and John Gilbertson
