Eloyse Joseph "Black" Blanchard A retired commercial fisherman, he passed away Thursday morning, June 19, 2008, at his home in Bayou Pigeon.

He was 84 and a native of Pierre Part. Visiting at Wilbert Funeral Home, Plaquemine, on Friday, June 20, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 9:40 a.m. Mass of Christian

Burial at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Plaquemine, on Saturday at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Joseph Sanjay, celebrant. Interment in Grace Memorial Park.

Survived by his wife of 61 years, Florence Berthelot Blanchard; son and daughter-in-law, Andrew and Joyce Blanchard; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Pearl and Dennis Aucoin, and Mae Berthelot; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Enaux Blanchard, Percy and Maude Blanchard and Murphy and Sweet Blanchard; three grandchildren, Brandy Ferguson and husband Michael, Dean Blanchard and wife Traci, and Ted Blanchard and wife Beth; and five great-grandchildren, Drew and Camille Blanchard, and Scott, McKayla and Seth Ferguson.

Preceded in death by his son, Iris "Irie" Blanchard; parents, Oleus and Enola Blanchard; brother, Cleveland Blanchard; and sister, Agnes Sauce.
