Murphy Paul Blanchard, a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2020 at his home with his family at his side at the age of 89. He was a native of Pierre Part and resident of Plaquemine. Murphy was employed for 11 years J. Ray McDermott, then 23 years with Iberville Parish as a heavy equipment operator. Visitation will be at Wilbert Funeral Home in Plaquemine on Monday, January 4th, from 12 to 2 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church at 2:30 pm, celebrated by Rev. Joe Camilleri. Burial will follow in Grace Memorial Park. Murphy is survived by his wife of 68 years, Gloria "Sweet" Himel Blanchard; son, Todd Blanchard; daughter, Tara Blanchard Daigle and spouse Brett; grandchildren, Alyssa Daigle DiSalvo and spouse Nicole; Lancin Blanchard and spouse Victoria, Lacey Blanchard Martin and spouse Marcus; great-grandchildren, Edie Michelle and Etta Mae DiSalvo; Waylon Murphy Blanchard, Rylee Jane Martin, Baby Girl Blanchard expected June 2021; numerous nieces and nephews. Murphy was preceded in death his son, Lance Murphy Blanchard; parents, Oleis and Enola Landry Blanchard; three sisters, Agnes Sauce, Pearl Aucoin and Mae Berthelot; four brothers, Cleveland, Enaux, Eloyse "Black" and Percy Blanchard. The family would like to express special thanks to Dana Trahan, Marty, Lloyd and Georgia Himel and everyone that provided love, support and prayers during his illness.
