Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday for C.V. Burgess [sic], 68, of Hereford. They will be held in Rose Chapel of Gililland Funeral Home with Russell Ingalls, minister of the Central Church of Christ, officiating.
Mr. Burgess [sic] died Wednesday about 10:45 p.m. in Deaf Smith County Hospital after an illness of about six years.
Burial will be in Hereford's West Park Cemetery under the direction of Gililland Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Pete Carmichael, H.L. Hershey, Abe Martin, Ray Polan, Buck Parsons and John D. Pitman.
Mr. Burgess [sic] was born March 10, 1891, in Eastland County, Texas. He was married to Willie Lundry on May 1 1923, in Mangum, Okla. He moved to Deaf Smith County from McLean in 1920. Mr. Burgess [sic] was a farmer, had been a veteran of World War I and was a member of the Central Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Willie Burgess [sic] of Hereford; six sons, Clint Lundry of Hereford, Bill Lundry of Wichita, Kan., Vernon Burgess [sic], C.V. Burgess [sic] Jr., LeRoy Burgess [sic] and Melvin Burgess [sic], all of Hereford; two daughters, Mrs. Dora B. Hamilton of Hereford and Mrs. Aletha Stanford of Mesquite, Tex.; two brothers, Rather Burgess [sic] and Arevilla Burgess [sic], both of Lancaster, Calif.; six sisters, Mrs. A.L. Yates of Fort Worth, Mrs. Nora Harvey of Palmsdale, Calif., Mrs. V.F. Digby of Barstow, Calif., Mrs. Emma Knight of Rush Springs, Okla., Mrs. Della Hamilton of Fort Worth and Mrs. Eula Smith of Arkansas; and 13 grandchildren.
