Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday in Gililland-Watson Funeral Home Rose Chapel with Bob Miller, pastor of South Georgia Baptist Church in Amarillo, and the Rev. H.W. Bartlett of Hereford officiating. Burial will be in Rest Lawn Cemetery.
Mr. Burges was born Aug. 25, 1926, in Black. He married Vivian Alice Jones on May 28, 1950, in Hereford.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Lawrence V. Burges of Germany; two daughters, Carmela Brock of Hereford and Vivian Andrews of Amarillo; a brother, C.V. Burges Jr. of Rockport; a sister, Dora Lee Baird of Anchorage, Alaska; a half brother, Bill Lundry of Wichita, Kan.; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Lundry of Hereford; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be to Temple Baptist Church, 700 Avenue K, Hereford, TX 79045.
