HAVILAND – Lawrence Dean Chenoweth, 90, died Dec. 17, 2014, at Kiowa County Memorial Hospital, Greensburg. He was born June 10, 1924, in Bunkerhill, Kan., the son of Ira and Pearl Annetta Meharg Chenoweth.

A lifetime Haviland area farmer, Dean was a member of the Haviland United Methodist Church, a former member of the Farmers COOP Elevator Board, Haviland School Board, Thrasher Show Board, Friends Bible College Board, American Legion and a 60-year member of the Masonic Lodge. On April 5, 1944, Dean married Ella Fern Meyer in Medicine Lodge, Kan. Survivors include: his wife, Ella; sons, Richard Chenoweth (Mary Beth) of Rawlins, Wyo., Donald Chenoweth (Karen) of Haviland, and Daryl Chenoweth (Sherry) of Normal, Ill.; daughter, Dianne Stearns (Gary) of Rose Hill, Kan.; sister, Terri Snyder (Harold) of LaHambra, Calif.; grandchildren, Darren Chenoweth, Mary Ann Tatum, Deborah Stegman, Sarah Lampe, Brian Chenoweth, Chad Chenoweth, Scott Chenoweth, Shawn Stearns, and Kyle Stearns; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son; brother, Floyd Chenoweth; sisters, Kitty Leffler and Audrey Ellis; and grandson, Mark Stearns.

Funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, 2014, at Haviland United Methodist Church, with Reverend Mark Fillmore officiating. Calling times will be held from 1 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 19, 2014, at Ayres-Calbeck Mortuary, Pratt. Burial will be held in the Haviland, Kansas Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Haviland United Methodist Church or Kiowa County Veterans' Memorial Fund, in care of Ayres-Calbeck Mortuary, 115 E. Fourth, Pratt
