Bruce Paul Eyler, Jr. 78, of Taneytown, Maryland, died peacefully Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born June 7, 1936 in Frederick, he was the son of the late Bruce Paul and Lutie Singer Eyler, Sr. He was the husband of Elizabeth Marie Bowers Eyler, his wife of 59 years.

Bruce was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Taneytown. He worked for the Cambridge Rubber Company in Taneytown, the Bowers Company near Littlestown, and retired after 30 years from the City of Taneytown, where he served as Superintendent of Utilities. Bruce was a member of the Gettysburg Moose Lodge and the Adams County Fire Association, and was a former member of the Kingsdale Volunteer Fire Company.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by six children: Terry Smith and husband John, Louann Baugher and husband Danny, Donald Eyler and wife Amy, Lisa Smith and husband Robbie, Kathy Ecker and husband Kenny, and Bruce P. Eyler III and wife Shelly, all of Taneytown; 18 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; a brother, William Eyler of Thurmont; 5 sisters, Velma Robarge of York, PA, Vivian Fogle of Thurmont, Janice Tull of Lewistown, Doris Smith of Middleburg, and Barbara Horner of Jefferson; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jennifer Baugher, and brothers, Norval, Kenneth, Richard, Donald, and Freddie Eyler.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 27 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 44 Frederick St, Taneytown, MD with Monsignor Martin E Feild as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Friday at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore St, Taneytown.
