Services for Robert D. Dixon, 77, 713 S. Pike St., will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Murphy Mortuary, with Major Tom Sillanpa officiating. Mr. Dixon died at Major Hospital Thursday. He had been ill for 10 years.
Friends may call at the mortuary after 4 p.m. today, and burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Dixon was born in Adair County, Ky. on March 28, 1904 to O'Neal and Elizabeth (Curry) Dixon. He was married on April 25, 1945 in Shelbyville to Fern E. Rutherford, who survives.
Also surviving are six daughters, Mrs. Henry (Dolly) Jacobs, Mrs. Paul (Laverne) Jacobs, Mrs. Shirley Robinson, and Mrs. Roy (Pauline) Jacobs, all of Shelbyville, Mrs. Clarence (Beatrice) Meece Jr., of Lexington, Ky., and Mrs. Craig (Blanche) Gibson, of Danville; three sons, Thomas Dixon and Roscoe Dixon, both of Shelbyville, and Edmund Dixon, of Eunice, NM.; one sister, Mrs. Pearl Sexton of Campbellsville, Ky.; 46 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.
Mr. Dixon retired in 1972 from the old Ray Glo Corp. in Shelbyville, where he was a night watchman.
