The death of Mary DeVinney, wife of Archibald Dawes, occurred Monday morning at 10:30 o'clock at her home in Kirkland, after a long period of failing health. The news of Mrs. Dawes' passing was the cause of sincere sorrow among her wide circle of friends.
Mrs. Dawes was born in the town of Kirkland, October 16, 1880, the oldest daughter of the late George and Francelia (Lawton) DeVinney. Her entire life was spent in or near this village, where she attended the Clinton High School and was a member of St. James' Church. Her marriage to Mr. Dawes took place May 25, 1810. Besides her husband she is survived by two children, Frances and Robert, and one brother, Robert DeVinney of this village.
The deceased was possessed of many excellent qualities of character and her passing removes a devoted and sincere friend and one who will be greatly missed.
Friends are invited to call at her late home this (Wednesday) afternoon and evening and the funeral service will be conducted privately Thursday afternoon, Rev. Robert J. Parker, rector of St. James' Church, officiating.
