RESEARCH PARANTAGE! SON OF GEORGE GETMAN AND CATHERINE COOK OR ELIZIABETH EMPIE?

David, son of George and Catherine (Cook) Getman, was born in 1809 in Ephratah, Fulton county, New York, died March 3, 1890. He removed to the town of Mayfield, same county, in 1846, and engaged in mercantile life, continuing until 1863, when he retired. He was a justice of the peace for twenty years, and an active worker and liberal supporter of the Dutch Reformed church of Mayfield. He married Mary Burdick, also born in Ephratah. They had five children, two only arriving at maturity. David AND Sarah.

DAVID GETMAN, (Squire David Getman) - Justice of the peace was a well known resident of Mayfield. His wife, Mary Burdick, was a sister to the late Mrs. David Stewart of Mayfield, the late Mrs. Jos. Keck of Keck Center, the late Mrs. Philip Empie of Ephratah, and the late Thomas Burdick, who was shot and killed by "Charley" Ecker at St. Johnsville many years ago. Squire Getman's son, David, who was a captain in the Union army during the late civil war, still resides at Mayfield. He is quite a turfman, who deals in blooded horses.
