Margaret Pier was born December 10, 1899 in Sioux Falls SD. As a young girl she lived in Hurley SD for several years. The family moved back to Sioux Falls where she attended elementary and secondary schools, graduating from Washington High School. After graduating from Carleton College at Northfield, MN, she worked several years for Tri State Electric Company of Sioux Falls.

She married Frederick W. Witte on July 27, 1922 in Sioux Falls. Mr. Witte died on Feb. 21, 1960. She married Lawrence E. Dresser on March 9, 1974 in Des Moines, IA. They continued to live in Sioux Falls until his death on July 12, 1981.

She was a lifetime member of the First Presbyterian Church, Sioux Falls. She was an active member in the Crippled Children's Hospital and School Auxiliary for 28 years.

Survivors include a son, David A. Witte, Sioux Falls; a daughter, M. Diane Witte, Adams, Mass.; a daughter-in-law, Ruth E. Witte, Des Moines, IA; 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, F. Pier Witte.
