Lois was born February 18, 1923 to Adam and Pearl (Karns) Thurston in Davenport, IA. She attended Wilton High School and married Hilbert E. Marolf on January 7, 1941 in Muscatine, IA. He preceded her in death on May 23, 2004.
Lois was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Moscow, IA. She was an avid Hawkeye and Cubs fan. She enjoyed playing Bingo and spending time with her grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 3, 2015 from 4-7 P.M., at Bentley Funeral Home, Wilton, IA.
Services will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2015, at 10:30 A.M. at the Bentley Funeral Home, Wilton, IA.
Serving as pallbearers will be Lois’ grandchildren: Laurie McCollum, Deborah Paxton, Jeff Johnson, Chad Johnson, Dustin Marolf and Kyle Marolf.
Interment will take place at the Oakdale Cemetery, Wilton, IA.
Lois is survived and lovingly remembered by her daughters: Kay (Bob) Paxton of Muscatine, IA and Jeanne (Lynn) Johnson of Moscow, IA, her son Jerry (Dawn) Marolf of Moscow, IA, 6 grandchildren: Laurie, Deborah, Jeff, Chad, Dustin and Kyle, 5 great grandchildren: Jane, Austin, Courtney, Abby, Joslyn and one on the way, her sister Charlotte Hess of Lowden, IA and her brother Edgar (Sue) Kublik of Bennett, IA.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her grandson Eric Johnson, 7 brothers and 5 sisters.
Memorial donations may be made to Trinity United Church of Christ or Iowa City Hospice in her memory.
