Funeral services will be conducted for Gilbert J. Rajewski, 89, Tuesday, November 15, 2011, at 1 p.m. at Sacred Heart of Jesus on the Teche Catholic Church with Fr. Richard Greene officiating. Military Graveside services will follow in Holy Family Mausoleum. Visitation will begin Monday, November 14, 2011, from 2 p.m. until 9 p.m. with recitations of the rosary at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Visitation will resume Tuesday, November 15, 2011, from 9 a.m. until service time.

A native of Vincent, Kan., and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Rajewski died Friday, November 11, 2011, at 6:20 p.m. at his residence.

Mr. Rajewski retired as an Instrumentation Supervisor with United Carbon/Ashland Company after 38 years of service. Gilbert was a Sacristian and a Eucharist Minister with Sacred Heart of Jesus on the Teche Catholic Church; he was a devout Catholic having attended many Catholic Community Churches without missing a single Mass for several years

Gilbert attended St. Joseph's Military School in Hayes, Kan., and was an honored World War II Veteran. He was a 3rd Degree Knight Council 11792 and a 4th Degree Monsignor Langlinais Assembly. Gilbert was an avid rosary maker; with willingness to give, he would always keep an extra rosary in his pocket to bless someone with. His hobbies included reading and music, and his most cherished times where those spent with his family.

Mr. Rajewski is survived by his wife of 64 years, Lois Holland Rajewski, of New Iberia; sisters Doris Wellbrock of New Iberia and Rita Gibson and husband, Don, of Longmont, Colo.; brother James Rajewski and wife, Marian, of Vincent, Kan.; brothers-in-law Don Nowak of Edmond, Okla., and Norbert Robben of Topeka, Kan.; nieces and nephews Bryan Wellbrock and wife, Dottie, Jo Ann Bollig and husband, Robert, Roger Wellbrock and wife, Janet, Marna Carlson and husband, David, Gary Wellbrock and wife, Vickie, Martin Wellbrock and wife, Maggie, Wanda Begnaud and husband, Keith, Chad Wellbrock and Chris Wellbrock; as well as several other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews who live out of state.

Mr. Rajewski was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary Ann Baier Rajewski; and his sisters Theresa Robben and Mary Catherine Nowak.

Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Bryan, Roger, Gary and Martin Wellbrock, David Carlson and Robert Bollig.
