John M. Hutchison

John M. Hutchison, 82, of 601 Buffalo Street, Manitowoc, a former Sheboygan resident, died early today at Holy Family hospital in Manitowoc after a short illness.

Born May 10, 1869, in the Netherlands, he came to the United States – directly to Sheboygan – when he was 23 years old, and was married to Mollie Katte on September 16, 1893.

Following their marriage the couple settled on a farm in the Sheboygan county until 1919, when they moved to Manitowoc county. They operated a farm in the town of Newton until 1944.

Survivors are the widow; 10 sons, Corrnelius, Giljam, Theodore, Henry, Andrew, Clarence and Wilbert of Manitowoc, James and Edward of Sheboygan and Harry of Milwaukee; three daughters, Mrs. Herman (Minnie) Hecker of Manitowoc, Mrs. Arthur (Josephine) Klein of Shoto and Mrs. Harvey (Anne) Gutknecht of Sheboygan.

Thirty-six grandchildren and 15 great- grandchildren also survive. Two sons – William, who was killed in action in World War I, and John Jr., who drowned in the Manitowoc river 18 years ago – preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Salem Ebenezer and Reformed church in the town of Newton, with Rev. Robert Stuebbe, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Newtown cemetery.

The body will lie in state at the Urbanek & Schlei Funeral home, Manitowoc, until 10 a.m. Monday, and at the church from 11 a.m. Monday until the time of the services.
