Joe Melvin Walden died at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital at the age of 90.

He was a farmer. He was of the Baptist faith.

He was a Private First Class in the U.S. Army. He received the American Theater Ribbon, the Good Conduct Ribbon, and a Victory Medal.

He was survived by his sister, Ella Wallen of Somerset, Kentucky; his brothers, R.B. (and Alice) Walden of Eubank, Kentucky and F.M. Walden of Shopville, Kentucky; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Walden and Mary (Brown) Walden; his wife, Polly (Gibson) Walden; his daughters, Joyce Jones and Linda Walden; his sisters, Dora Branscum, Lytha Martin, and Bobbie Jean Gibson; and his brothers, Elmer Ray Walden, Arvis Walden, and Albert Walden.

Funeral services were held on Monday, October 11 at the Pulaski Funeral Home with Reverend Johnnie Helton officiating.

Military honors were conducted by the American Legion Post #38 Honor Guard.
