Fina Marshall “Jake” Walden, 94, of the Welborn community died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2006, at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. Born March 24, 1912, in Burnside, he was the son of the late Henry Marshall and Mary Brown Walden. He was a retired farmer and of the Baptist faith. Survivors include two sons, Cecil (and Helen) Walden, Bronston, and Michael (and Terrye) Walden, Welborn community; two daughters, Shirley (and Bob) Thomas and Angela (and James) Bray, both of Somerset; a brother, R.B. Walden, Eubank; a sister, Ella Walden, Somerset; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sarah Lockard Walden, whom he married on Dec. 24, 1947, and who died May 31, 1999; a son, Bobby Walden; two daughters, Janivie Walden Mounce and Helen Christine Walden; four brothers, Joe, Elmer, Albert and Arvis Walden; three sisters, Dora Branscum, Lytha Martin and Bobby Dean Gibson; three half-brothers, John Walden, Evin Walden and William Walden; a half-sister, Betty Burdette; two grandchildren, Mark Anthony Nelson and Anthony Curtis Thomas; and a great-grandchild, Ethan Joe Swift. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at the chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Randy C. Wiles officiating. Burial will be in Bronston Cemetery. Friends may call from 9 a.m.-11 a..m. Friday at the funeral home.
